January 24, 2007—Bellevue, WA—Today Laplink® officially released its Vista-compatible version of PCmover®, the best selling migration utility in the world – and the only utility that automatically moves programs as well as data files and settings from an old PC to a new PC.

The promise of a better operating system will lead many consumers to purchase a new PC in the upcoming months.  And once they’ve bought their new PC, every owner then faces the same challenge: “How do I transfer the software programs, files, and system settings from my old PC to my new one?”

“With each generation of new PCs, the set-up task is becoming more complicated and time consuming,” explained Emir Aboulhosn, Laplink’s Vice President, Global Marketing Communications.  “Not that long ago, only a few applications had to be reinstalled and some critical data transferred.  It wasn’t that difficult.  Now, consumers have dozens of applications to move as well as thousands of data files – photos, music, financial records, email and more. PCmover moves everything from the old PC to the new one.  And, with PCmover you don’t even need to find old CDs or serial numbers to reinstall your applications. That makes PCmover unique and relieves consumers of a major hassle.”

Users of PCmover can migrate from a PC running Windows 95 or any later version to any other version of Windows, including Vista.  PCmover even allows for migrations to a Macintosh running Parallels or Apple’s Boot Camp.

“PCmover is the clear leader in this market,” added Mark Chestnut, Laplink’s Senior Vice President, Sales.  “We continue to see our market share grow both in retail and with OEMs because the value proposition is incredibly simple and compelling.  We save time and money for consumers and businesses, whether migrating to XP or to Vista.”

Any version of PCmover already purchased can be upgraded free of charge. Users simply to need to use the “Check for Update” functionality available in PCmover after installation on their old and new PCs to download the Vista compatible version of PCmover.

Starting at $49.95 the Vista compatible version of PCmover is available today directly from Laplink at www.laplink.com.

PCmover is also available at major retailers including Amazon, Buy.com, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry’s, Micro Center, Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples.
