They're starting to appear in droves. In response to my post yesterday on using the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, I've got three new tools to share with you that all promise to make the move to Vista a smooth one. I'm sure we'll be hearing about others in the next few weeks. It seems that migrating to Vista is a cash cow!

An Upgrade Advisor:

Support.com is offering a $30 Vista Upgrade Advisor that is ostensibly a nice, sugar-coated version of Microsoft's free Upgrade Advisor. It's a combination of remote control tech support and diagnostics to help those who may not be comfortable migrating to Vista from their current PCs without help. Support.com walks you through the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, analyzes where your current PC might choke on the upgrade, and recommends the appropriate flavor of Vista to buy based on your PC. If the diagnostics show that your drivers need to be upgraded, support.com says it will credit the cost of the Vista Upgrade Advisor service and apply it to its Comprehensive Problem Resolution service to help you upgrade. The service is available now.

A PC Mover:

A Vista version of PCmover from Laplink just launched. This software lets you will transfer all of your settings, files, but also your programs and applications from one computer to a new Vista PC. It works across a network with Laplink's USB cable, Laplink's parallel cable, or Belkin's new Windows Easy Transfer Cable. The software starts at $49.95 (available with and without cables). This new version of the software also supports the move from a PC to an Intel-based Mac.

A File Mover:

Belkin's Easy Transfer Cable for Vista is an eight-foot cable with USB 2.0 connections on both ends. The cable contains Laplink's PCsync software which lets you select and then transfer or synchronize files and settings from/between your XP machine to your Vista machine. Files can include your MP3s and photos. It will be available shortly and costs $39.99.
